The late Dr Bullough produced in this large volume a spotty history of homosexuality with additional material about transvestism and other matters. There are serious gaps in the narrative, e. g., nothing about Russia. As usual, the West is the focus. Written in 1976, it was before the rise of the gay rights movement and its amazing success, which therefore is not dealt with.
